I learn about the situation
Why is this important?
Learning about environmental changes (climate, biodiversity) helps to understand why the transition is necessary and contributes to raising awareness of the urgency of the situation. This may seem distressing, but it helps to find the motivation to act and to give meaning to our actions.
For example, being careful about where my shoes are coming from is easier since I realized that the Amazon is burning in order to make space to breed the cows (whose leather is used) and to plant the soya that feeds them….
This is not a question of reviewing the situation again, but of sharing resources that everyone can use at will.
To go further:
- How many resources do you already know about?
- Ask your friends and colleagues if they are aware of the problem
- Encourage your elected officials to share their views on IPCC reports
- Did your city and canton vote for the climate emergency?
